Why should a senior lawyer seriously work on their professional project, precisely when it seems there is nothing left to learn?

Because the learning curve does not overlap with the potential curve!

Let me explain:
When you are young (if you are a high-potential person),
- you are humble
- you receive a lot of feedback
- you are curious
this mix accelerates learning

When you are senior (even though you have absolutely not exhausted your potential),
- you tend to be more satisfied
- you don't have obvious gaps in experience or knowledge (so it's harder to understand what to work on)
- you receive less timely feedback (both because you are senior, and because it takes a lot of expertise to say truly useful things)

The risk is that you confuse difficulty with the impossibility of growing;

and this is precisely when small adjustments could lead to dramatic positive increases:

because for a senior it is more difficult to identify how to improve, but a small improvement, acting on big levers, generates a great result.
